The treasures of Domaine de la Forêt Blanche
Risoul and Vars
Located inside the Forêt Blanche ski area, the Risoul and Vars resorts both enjoy outstanding snow cover throughout the season, even in April. With their high point at 2,750 m, the 185 kilometres in marked trails are a real treat for skiers of all levels. The area serves up outstanding panoramic views across the surrounding mountain ranges stretching from Alpes-Maritimes to Haute-Savoie.
Risoul is perched upon an attractive overhang at an altitude of 1,850 m, facing Mount Pelvoux and the Massif des Ecrins. The larch trees in the Forêt Blanche (White Forest) provide the resort with authentic character, conducive to after-ski relaxation: the high street and the snow front are always the scene of much hustle and bustle. This is a genuine mountain village, a pleasant and exotic locale made up of wooden chalets and residences.
Vars consists of four hamlets, ranging in altitude from 1,500 to 1,950 m. Built on the borders of Queyras Regional Nature Park, the resort enjoys a highly preserved environment. The main hamlet of Les Claux is the highest, and it is the living heart of the resort. Vars provides a host of both sports and cultural activities that will delight the most demanding of mountain lovers.
